Devotion to Nihila

LIR@

Nihilism is a philosophical doctrine, which preaches - life has no special meaning, importance and purpose, morality and moral values have no absolute advantage. All the principles created by society are abstract and ineffective.

The word Nihil of Nihilism is derived from Latin, it means Nothing. Nihilism is this empty philosophising.

Nihilism originated in the 19th century, when Søren Kierkegaard defined the concept in His Present Age. It was not yet called Nihilism, but Søren Kierkegaard named it "Levelling". He said that levelling in human life is like the darkness of a grave, every person faces this levelling alone, he has no companion in this regard; In the face of this levelling, questions arise about all theories and beliefs.

But Søren Kierkegaard is a lunatic optimistic philosopher. He took things positively on a small scale. He said, "No, levelling is good, because those who can overcome this challenge, they do not suffer from self-doubt anywhere in their lives." In Plato's words- Know Thyself; So they recognize Thyself. Søren Kierkegaard did not formulate any further theories about the negative effects and consequences of Nihilism, nor did he verify the accuracy.

Then came Friedrich Nietzsche. He stirred up Nihilism with a few books and controversial comments. In his book ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra’, he once said, "God is dead, and we have killed Him" and without realising this, man made him the Father of Nihilism with pleasure. Friedrich Nietzsche, The True  Nihilist!

In fact, Friedrich Nietzsche himself was an existentialist philosopher. He doesn't believe in Nihilism. He proved that Nihilism is a branch of existentialism, and most likely the future of existentialism. Nietzsche gave an excellent explanation where Søren Kierkegaard stopped.

Nietzsche said that man makes all his decisions from certain predetermined values and religious beliefs. But in today's society, we are discovering that there is no great purpose behind these values and beliefs. Our existence has no real meaning. There can be two reasons for human existence:

  • The divine reason
  • The natural cause.

Why is God creating us?

First of all, God needs us, so we live to save the life of an old weak God. We don't mean to exist ourselves. Second, God's will created it. If you want, destroy it. We don't need to exist, so there's no question. Or natural causes. Imagine if the creation of the world is a continuous phenomenon, if step by step of the trial and error of adaptation-evolution, we are constantly transformed from a single-celled organism to this human being, then surely our existence is as it is, continuously. Our purpose is nothing more than the lower class creatures of nature. Live, find a partner, create offspring, protect your being, that's it. If you can't survive, die, goodbye. Charles Darwin's survival of the fittest theory that explains the mechanism of natural selection. What does this mean at the end of the day?

According to Friedrich Nietzsche, this thought process began in the subconscious mind of the Western world. It may not be developed individually, but it will begin to manifest itself in groups, in politics, art, literature, economy and society and then to the feelings of ordinary people.

As a result, we are slowly accepting or discarding customary values and religion to our advantage, and as a result we are losing our moral compass (used in reference to a person's ability to judge what is right and wrong and act accordingly), slowly killing our God. This is why Nietzsche's quote - 'God is dead, and we have killed him'.

This God is not only the God of the Abrahamic three religions, this God is the representative of all the laws of all ages, of all guardians.

That's why Nietzsche said that in the future this Nihilism — this cry of meaninglessness — would turn all truth into nothing. Since all the customs and values of the world are (more or less) based on truth, all of them will become empty to a Nihilist, that is, there will be no meaning.

"When Nihilist sins, it will be the worst sin.

When a Nihilist does good, it will be the purest virtue."

Nietzsche did not romanticise Nihilism, he analysed it as the best experiment of mankind. It takes space to create something new, Nihilism is the creator of that vacuum. After crossing Nihilism, people (in Nietzsche language they are still not human, 'Übermensch' [The ideal superior man of the future who could rise above conventional Christian morality to create and impose his own values, originally described by Nietzsche in ‘Thus Spake Zarathustra’ (1883–5)] or anthropomorphic beings) will begin to find the meaning of existence.

While Søren Kierkegaard noticed this as an opportunity, Nietzsche agreed with him, saying, "Yes, there is an opportunity, of course, but he is also doubting whether the human race will be able to pass that test."

It wasn't too late for Nietzsche to realise. Nihilism is spreading in our lives like a painful boil. A person who has not heard the name Nihilism in his life also suffers from depression sometimes. Because, even if we do not know in a single way, it is collectively destroying our subconscious being and when he gets the opportunity, he expresses it.

The doctrine of late modernity is the characterization of today's highly developed global societies as the continuation (or development) of modernity rather than as an element of the succeeding era known as postmodernity, or the postmodern.] is the child of Nihilism.

Dadaism [Dadaism was an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century, with early centres in Zürich, Switzerland, at the Cabaret Voltaire. New York Dada began c. 1915, and after 1920 Dada flourished in Paris. Dadaist activities lasted until the mid 1920s.] Nihilism is one of the inspirations of our Hungry Generation.

The bulk of Russian literature covers Nihilism.

Sigmund Freud, Yang, has done psychoanalysis centred on Nihilism. A lot of movie, music are constantly being created in this concept.

And gradually, in this 21st century, Nihilism is not slowly becoming a concept, it has become an entity hidden within the brain, which, when given the opportunity, is revealing its appearance in the outer world and in the field everyone is becoming Nihilist. And at different ages, we are separating the different manifestations of Nihilism with different labels-
It's Teenage Depression, It's a Midlife Crisis, That's the depression of old age.

And we are stuck in the intoxication of Nihilism, it is not becoming us to become that Übermensch of Nietzsche by overcoming addiction. So let there be sorrow, may love remain intact. Love for Nihila.
